I am a journalist. I have worked as a newspaper reporter and as a documentary television field producer. My reporting and writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Tico Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the International Herald Tribune. My documentary work has aired on PBS and the cable networks: A&E, History Channel, Weather Channel, and the Outdoor Life Network.

I am an athlete. Sports have always been a part of my life. I love the feel of the wind against my face. The noise of shoes pounding against the road. The sound of a ball bouncing on an open court. And the feel that you can only get after putting in a long game of anything. I played basketball, volleyball and soccer at Evanston Township High School. At Emory University, I played volleyball and basketball on the varsity teams for my freshman and sophomore year, respectively.  Today I am an avid runner and completed the Boston Marathon in 2007. And I’ll join a pick up game anytime I can.

Sports are a catalyst for change and a vehicle for social movement. I believe that this project will catalyze and create a new community of stronger women, families, communities and countries.  Through Her Eyes is an innovative multimedia project designed to profile women who play sports and highlight the benefits they gain and in turn improve the well being of women, accelerate community building and involvement and drive social change.

“Sports have freed women, and continue to free women, from restrictive dress, behaviors, laws and customs - and from the belief that women can’t or shouldn’t achieve or compete or win. Sports embody freedom: unrestricted physical expression, travel across great distances, liberated movement.”
-Mariah Burton Nelson, Nike is a Goddess: The History of Women in Sports
